Seattle King County NAACP To Hold Election Of New Officers

The Seattle King County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) — an association that ensures the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination — will be holding officer elections on Mon., Nov. 28 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. The elections will take place 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Seattle King County NAACP’s office – 715 23rd Ave. S. in Seattle.

Given the country’s current political climate, it is urgent, and most needed for the NAACP to take action at this moment. For that reason, it is important for all NAACP members living in King County to attend and vote at the executive board elections.

As it relates to the upcoming election, there are three important meetings that NAACP members are encouraged to attend:

  • Mon., Sept. 26, at 6:30pm: Election of the Nominating Committee. All members whose memberships are current as of 30 days prior to the meeting date may be elected to the Nominating Committee.
  • Mon., Oct. 24 at 6:30pm: Report of the Nominating Committee, receipt of Nominations by Petition, and election of the Election Supervisory Committee. All members whose memberships are current as of April 1st may be nominated for office as an at-large member of the Executive Committee. In order to sign a nominating petition, or be elected to the Election Supervisory Committee, a member must be current as of 30 days prior to the October meeting.
  • Mon., Nov. 28 Election: In order to vote in a Branch election, you must be a member in good standing of the Branch 30 days prior to the election. A form of identification is required. If you joined through the national office, please bring proof of membership.

The community is encouraged to attend these three important meetings. These elections will help set the course for the future work of the NAACP, especially since the selected officers will be representatives of the entire community. If you have questions, please contact Rhonda at secretary@seattlekingcountynaacp.org.
