2017 Greater Seattle Youth Football League Playoffs

Peewees
Renton Rangers 19, Tacoma Spartans 7
After an intense week of practice, the Renton Ranger Peewees were more than excited to play in their first playoff game this season. The Lil’ Rangers defense started out very anxious, jumping offsides a few times, and allowing Tacoma’s offense to march up the field in the first quarter. The Rangers’ “bend but don’t break” motto on defense allowed them to play loose and free flowing to the ball as they gang tackled and smothered the Spartans once they settled down. After stopping Tacoma’s opening drive. The Rangers’ high-powered offense came out and executed. On the first play from scrimmage, Renton running back Choice Wilkins took the handoff from quarterback Marcus Mosby, Jr. and electrified the crowd with his break-away speed going the distance for the Ranger’s first touchdown of the game.
A quick 4 and out from the Spartans gave the ball back to the Rangers’ offense. Running back Dauve Hunter took the handoff from Mosby Jr. and glided up the gut for the Renton’s second score of the game.

A late score in the fourth quarter by Tacoma gave them hope bringing the score to 13-7.
With three minutes left to go in the game, the Rangers’ efficient offense took the field and sealed the deal with a big time, big game drive. The drive was capped off by Mosby, as he took the snap and followed his blockers up the field weaving his way in and out of defenders utilizing key block to score Renton’s third touchdown of the day. Final score Rangers 19, Spartans 7. With the win, Renton advances to the championship game this Sat., Nov. 11 against the Pac Highway Chargers.

89ers
Renton Rangers 47, Puyallup 6
The undefeated Ranger 89ers started off the post season with a 47-6 win over the Puyallup Warriors 10u team. The game was highlighted by the always stingy Ranger defense. Led By captain Marques Meneese (11 solo tackles), the Rangers’ defense didn’t give up a point until the last play of the game.

Offensively, the Rangers got contributions from everyone including a dominate and nasty offensive line. Demari King had two touchdown runs, while teammate Micah Meneese match his backfield mate with two touchdowns of his own. Ray Clark and Jordan Noel also scored for the Rangers. The Rangers look to cap the season off in style this Saturday as they play for the league championship. This could be a special day for a special group of young men!
