2022 Honda Civic Sport

By Frank S. Washington

DETROIT – Honda’s Civic keeps soldiering on – in a good way. For the third time, it was named the North American Car of the year for 2022.

That’s more than any other car on the market since 1994.

The Civic was completely redesigned for the 2022 model year. Our test model was a Sport trim. It was quiet, handled well, and it was comfortable. We always check the back seat and the Civic had a spacious one.

We had a 2.0-liter normally aspirated four-cylinder engine. It was mated to a CVT transmission.  The combination got 30 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway and 33 mpg combined.

There was no Wi-Fi hot spot, but it had Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, streaming, a navigation system, satellite radio, and a moon roof. And with a base price of less than $25,000, the Honda Civic is aimed directly at younger as well as budget buyers. It has been put together so well that it is the North American Car of the Year for 2022.
