What Was The Message You Recieved From The Movie Black Panther?

Kendall Allen…
Black Panther movie is an amazing movie to go see. It teaches us about our African American culture and descent. It gives us a glimpse of what Wakanda used to be back in the day!!!! I think if you haven’t gone to see The Black Panther I would encourage you to go see it. A lot of people wear their African prints because of the cultural background of the movie!

LaMar Strickland…
I think it was wonderful for us to have all Black People.  They made a movie called “Gods of Egypt” and it was all White folks and we know that ain’t right. A lot of people complained about the movie and I am like can we just have our two hours, can we just enjoy it. People arriving in dashikis, everybody’s happy, we got little kids looking up at the Black characters like oooh I want to be that guy or that character. I think it’s real good for younger kids growing up to see a movie with an all Black cast.

Elma Malulu…
The message that I got from the movie Black Panther is just a message of empowerment, especially for the Black community. It symbolized our strength, it emphasized our beauty and even deeper than that our ability to be who we are. We don’t have to have another blueprint from another community, that we can do it on our own, in our own way.  And that was very empowering.  That we’re powerful, we’re strong, we can do it all.

Mohammed Sesey…
What I have to say about the Black Panther movie that it is a movie based on Black history and all that. So far what I have experienced with the movie and in the media, some people are posting some angry things in the media about Black Panther.  I’m not really sure how that is going to make other people feel about the movie, but I think from what I saw it is a good thing.

Asun Suntonio Bandanaz…
To me as a reader of the actual comics, I viewed the Killmonger character as such: He was one of the lost, left behind African Children amidst the impoverished setting of the American African experience of the times. His anger and confusion fuels his path though driven by a real feeling and desire to reconnect with his history and roots. The entirety of the broader concept seems to be yet another comparative narrative of the “Malcolm and Martin” ideologies to a degree, but also the argument of Knowing the traditions of where we come from vs the warning of the dangers of the disconnect from your roots and history and losing your cultural identity in the Americanized African psychologically.

Jay Smalls…
The message that I received from the Black Panther movie is basically not to just focus on yourself and your people but to respect all people and to contribute to different things other than your own interests.
