A Battle Of Epic Defenses Saw The Bruins Hold On To A Hard Fought Victory

By Airik Myers, The Seattle Medium

This week we got to witness a great match up between the Benson Bruins and the CD Panthers. This 13U clash was a display of great defenses and hard- nosed offenses. The Bruins and Panthers played an aggressive game against each other. You could see the passion the players had as they left if all on the field.

The game started off with some great plays by the Bruins defense. On a drive by
the Panthers, Jordan Noel read the quarterback perfectly and was able to leap and
snag the interception. This set the defensive tone of the game and both teams responded accordingly. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the nterception set up the Bruins in a perfect position to march down the field. Doing just that, Kellon Hightower took a handoff to the leftside of the field to score the opening touchdown for the Bruins.

Defenses for both teams started to tighten up after that score. The Bruins were able to stifle the Panthers offense, from start to finish. The Panthers, on the other hand, we’re able to stifle the likes of Giulio Banchero and Micah Meneese, which was huge. The one touchdown deficit didn’t look to be a huge mountain to climb.

But in the 4th quarter, the Bruins called game. Jordan Noel got a handoff 10 yards out and took it to the endzone. This was enough to solidify the win for Benson, as the 13-point lead was too much for CD to overcome.

“Good game, hard fought battle, got a little tense,” said Benson Coach Hightower after the game. “Respect to the CD, but the Benson Bruin boys did their thing. See
you in two weeks.”
