The Pacific Northwest UNCF will host their 20th annual UNCF Walk for Education on Sat., Aug. 3 at Judkins Park. The purpose of the walk is to raise money to help local African American and minority low-income students attend college. This year UNCF will partner with Seattle Seahawks Pro Bowl offensive tackle, Russell Okung’s UP Foundation to help promote the importance of education and fitness.
The 5K walk will start at 9:00 a.m. am with registration starting at 7:30 a.m. The event day will also feature a fitness challenge, the UNCF BBQ Cook-off for Education, and a UNCF “Kids Happy Hour,” where free turkey dogs, turkey burgers and school backpacks will be available for kids under 18 years of age.
The UNCF supports over 300 students from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. To learn more about the events and to register, please visit: www.uncf.org/seattlewalk.
