Friday night the jewel of South Seattle, The Rainier Beach Vikings (1-0) took on the Higley High Knights (1-1) of Gilbert, Arizona in a non -conference matchup.
From the opening whistle, the Knights imposed their will on the Vikings utilizing a spread attack, and creating gapping lanes for senior running back Isaiah Eastman, who looked like a man
amongst boys, to run through. Eastman led all rushers with 147 yards on 17 carries, and 8 receptions for 87 yards.
The Vikings struggled mightily on both sides of the ball resulting in continuous three and outs giving the Knights excellent field position. However the Vikings had a few bright spots, senior running
back D’Eric Jackson, who picked up 37 yards on 11 attempts, recorded the Vikings only first half touchdown, while sophomore wide receiver Ellis Branca pulled in 4 receptions for 26 yards, as the Viking went into the half trailing 23-8
The second half began with more of the same as Higley senior quarterback Kai Millner, who completed 13 of 19 passes for 224 yards, found his receivers early often, marching deep into Rainier Beach territory and adding four more scores, resulting in a final score of 57-30, Higley.
With the loss, the Vikings fell to 1-1 on the season.
