Banks To Keynote Washington Rhinestone Annual Luncheon This Sunday

Pamela Banks, President/CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, will keynote the Washington Rhinestone’s Annual Luncheon at 2:00 p.m., this Sun., May 4 in the Jessie Shields Fellowship Hall at Mt. Zion Baptist Church – 1634 19th Avenue in Seattle.

Banks, the second woman in the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle’s (ULMS) 84-year history to hold the position of President and CEO, will talk about Brown vs. Board of Education – 60 years later.

The luncheon will also feature The Washington Rhinestone Club’s traditional hat contest, as judges will select the most beautiful and the most unique hats worn among the attendees of the luncheon.
With emphasis on encouraging young women to pursue higher education beyond high school, the Washington Rhinestone Club has awarded scholarships to assist many young women from the greater Seattle area to pursue their dreams.

The Washington Rhinestone’s annually award scholarships at their Debutante Ball. Every 2013 Debutante received scholarship assistance at the 2013 Debutante Ball. The Queen is the young lady with the highest accumulative grade point average at graduation from high school. The 2014 Debutante Ball will be held on Sat., Dec. 27. A portion of the proceeds from the luncheon will assist in providing these scholarships.
