As far as the police towers outside of the grocery stores I don’ t think they are necessary. I feel like when people commit crimes there is probably a camera outside the store that they can get captured on and adding an extra camera is not going to stop people from doing what they’re going to do and police are patrolling neighborhoods all the time and it still doesn’t make much of a difference. Police can drive around and still do everything they need to do without those towers there and I feel like even if they did have those towers there it wouldn’t change anything.

I do not believe the Police observatories are any good, they are useless because crime is still rampant plus to have them just in our neighborhoods they need to be citywide, ours is not the only issue. When I was growing up if you did the crime, you did the time and now all their doing is letting them in and out of jail, it is a revolving door so it is a waste of taxpayer’s money.

I say yes, because I think it is necessary. You know one bad apple can spoil the batch you know what I’m saying, in just my opinion and my belief. The reason why you never know that one bad apple, you never know when you’re going to get that one bad person who will act a fool and they do not know how to conduct themselves especially if you try to pull them to the side and say “hey brother let me let me talk to you, let me help you” let’s talk. Some don’t what to hear you talk, no matter what, they’ll say “I’m going to act a fool because I can.” So I think it’s necessary people are ignorant it’s 2019.

I don’t think it is necessary. First of all, I haven’t read or heard anything about any crime statistics in that area especially happening in the parking lots. If there’s something going on I’m not aware of it. But right now, I don’t see any need to have that kind of presence.

I think of the towers in two ways, they could be effective or they couldn’t be effective. A)they could be effective in that they could deter people if they knew that they were manned and armed at the time I think that would deter people from loitering and hanging out. But I also think it’s an unnecessary expense that doesn’t need to be put on the people. The taxpayers are obviously going to have to pay for it, I think that we are already paying for video cameras and paying for police to come out and deal with problems, I don’t think it is necessary.

I grew up in the Central Area and we never had these observatories over us at any time. I don’t believe they’re doing any good, it is a waste of time and money, because people will find a way to go around them and still get what they want and need.
