Big Plays Catapult Rainier Beach To A Shutout Victory Over Roosevelt

Rainier Beach showed their talent on both offense and defense as they posted a 43-0 shutout win over Roosevelt.

The Beach Boyz took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter after defensive back Mohamed Jobe intercepted a pass at the Roosevelt 17 yard line to set up Beach’s second touchdown of the afternoon.

Late in the second quarter, Rainier Beach’s A’Shaki Davis helped open the flood gates. Davis caught a short pass, shook off a tackle and broke loose on a 50-yard catch and run to the Roosevelt 9 yard line. On the next play, Rainier Beach running back Scott’Tre Humphrey drug a host of Roosevelt defenders into the endzone for a 9-yard touchdown run, as the Vikings built a 21-0 lead with two minutes left in the first half.

Despite, what appeared to be a comfortable lead heading into the half, Rainier Beach was not done. The Vikings’ Kiwann Terry intercepted a pass at 50, and Beach scored on the very next play as next Jaelin Green scored on a 50-yard touchdown catch. Rainier Beach missed the PAT, but held a 27-0 lead.

Roosevelt has their best chance to get on the scoreboard with time running out in the second quarter, but they were denied by Beach’s stingy defense at the goal line as time expired.

In the second half, Beach kept the pedal to the metal. Humphrey broke loose for 52-yard touchdown run to give the Vikings a 34-0 lead. Defensive tackle Josh Conerly (6’5”, 275) recorded a safety, and defensive back Lemanuel Donaldson returned an interception for a touchdown as Rainier Beach won their second straight game, and improved to 2-2 on the season.
