Isiah Anderson…
I don’t believe that the Black Lives Matter movement, if you will, is relevant now as it used to be. It is us Black people, but it’s not in society because in society all it takes is for something else to come along. Right now it’s Me Too, so Black Lives Matter takes a backseat to MeToo. It took a backseat to the flag, you know the kneeling, it takes a backseat to anything else that comes along. It will take a backseat until we again say “wait a minute” your forgetting so now we got to make a movement. And of course, it’s Black History Month so they gotta make it relevant. So yeah it’s going to always be relevant to us, it’s just up to us to continue to make it relevant when it gets skipped over by the next movement.
Jacquline Thompson…
I do believe the BLM movement is still relevant today, yes. It’s because there’s not enough activities that support Black lives, they do not have enough resources for Black students, there’s not enough Black teachers to give them the encouragement and the foundation to believe they can be more than what society thinks of them. And basically the reason why it is relevant is because there is a prison pipeline that is systematically grabbing Black lives and they need it to support the economy like they did in the slavery days. So therefore that is why Black lives are relevant and it matters today.
Adama Seck..
I absolutely do believe that the Black Lives Matter Movement still is important and relevant today, simply because you have different areas and institutions and individuals that still have the disbelief that all lives matter equally. Again, that still being a false narrative that’s pushed inside of these United States. We have to continue to push the agenda that Black Lives Matter and that it’s important and still relevant for us to preach, yell, and scream everywhere we go.
Sheree Seretse…
Black Lives Matter will matter till the end of time until things and events have changed, as well as until things and justice are equitable and we stop losing the lives of our people because of and due to ignorance.
Keala Allen…
Black Lives Matter Movement will always be relevant as long as there are Black people existing. The injustices and inequality that persist in America and around the world force the issue of identity and relevance. They can never just push the descendants of Africa to the side like dust, our presence in the world throughout history has always been and will always be significant. You cannot deny our presence and killing us or inhibiting us will never diminish who we are as a people or the contributions we have given humanity. With that said Black Lives will always matter.
