With heavy hearts, family and friends are celebrating the life of Chardelle Patrice Carter Spencer, who passed away on February 21, 2025. She was a radiant soul whose love, wisdom, and strength touched everyone she met.
Born on April 27, 1978, at 4:27 p.m. in Room 427 in Seattle, Washington, Chardelle was the beloved daughter of Natalie Maxine Murray (Lockhart) and Craig Leonard Carter. A joyful and smiling baby, she was affectionately nicknamed “Dolly Baby” by her grandfather.
Chardelle was part of a large, blended family. She was one of eight siblings—five boys and three girls—and the middle daughter among them. She graduated from Lindbergh High School in Renton, Washington, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences from Eastern Washington University and a Master’s in Health Administration from the University of Phoenix.
After college, Chardelle met and married the love of her life, Christopher Spencer. Together, they built a beautiful blended family filled with love and purpose. She adored her children—Sakeyla, Ladaysha, Amoni, Aniya, Chris Jr., and LaTasha—and devoted herself to nurturing them with faith, healthy living, and the value of education.
Chardelle was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and a loyal friend. She was a respected hospital administrator and a compassionate advocate, admired for her strength, wisdom, and grace. Her presence lit up every room, and she made each moment meaningful for those around her.
She is deeply mourned by her husband and life partner of 25 years, Christopher Spencer; her parents Ricardo and Natalie Maxine Lockhart of Renton, Washington; daughters Sakeyla (Jonathan) Evans of Lakewood, Washington; Ladaysha and Aniya Spencer of West Hills, California; LaTasha Spencer of Seattle; sons Amoni Spencer of North Hollywood, California, and Christopher Spencer Jr. of Seattle; and her cherished grandchildren Messiah Sutton Evans, Ilyauna Evans, and Emilio Evans.
She is also survived by her brothers Derrick (Mauri) Lockhart of Covington; Mario (Lily) Lockhart of Marysville, Washington; Donnell Pennewell of Seattle; Dominique (Maribel) Lockhart and Adrian Lockhart of North Hollywood, California; sisters Kimberly (Victor) Fuller of Chicago; Lorna (Jamie) Pennewell of Portsmouth, Virginia; lifelong friends Maria Garcia (Jerome) Ferguson of Riverside, California, and Angelica (Jose) Maldonado of Kent, Washington; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends across the country.
Chardelle leaves a legacy rich in love, faith, and devotion. She will be greatly and deeply missed.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held this Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 7550 Martin Luther King Jr Way South, Seattle, WA 98118, with a repast to follow.
