The Cierra Sisters, Inc., a non-profit African American Breast Cancer Survivor & Support Organization, will host a community dialogue on breast cancer/cancer and wellness at their Bi-Annual Families Coming Together Conference to take place on St., Sept. 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Rainier Beach Community Center – 8825 Rainier Avenue S. in Seattle. The event will provide an opportunity for the community to hear from and speak with some of the medical communities’ leading authorities on breast cancer and other health issues that impact the African American and underserved communities – including Dr. Patricia Dawson and Dr. Memet Fur from Swedish Providence Hospital and Medical Malpractice Law Attorney Ann Deutscher. According to organizers, the goal of the event is to change the way people think about cancer and ways to respond to Cancer and utilize community outreach strategies to get the message out concerning the life-saving process of early detection to both women and men in our communities. The event is free and open to the public and breakfast and lunch will be provided.
