The Miss Black International Ambassador Scholarship Organization recently announced the crowning of Daizha Brown as Miss Black Washington International Ambassador. In June, Brown will have the opportunity of a lifetime to not only compete in The Miss Black International Pageant, but also be in a documentary and live event showcasing the beauty, gorgeous minds, and amazing talents.
The Miss Black International Pageant, formally Miss Black U.S. Ambassador Pageant, is a program of Ambassadors of Change Inc., which exist to give a once in a lifetime opportunity to Black women globally. Divisions include Teen, Miss, Ms. and Mrs. As Ambassadors of Change, each woman embarks on the journey to encourage, empower, and enlighten communities, states, and nations. These women are a rising voice in the community that seeks to make a difference, by providing educational forums and events that focus on health disparities, poverty, violence and major issues plaguing black women of the diaspora globally. The four crowned International Ambassadors receive scholarship and grant opportunities to further their education or fund their business.
Brown, a 25-year-old resident of Seattle, was born in Champaign, Illinois and grew up in Tacoma, Washington. She works full-time at Microsoft as a Marketing Communications Manager while also running a small business handcrafting natural hair products as part of her brand DaibyDai LLC. Her handcrafted natural hair product, the Hydrating Buttercream, is made with all natural ingredients to provide intensive moisture for curls and coils. Her mission as a business owner is to help others reach their healthy hair goals strand by strand and day by day.
When she was a child, Brown journaled about her career aspirations of becoming an entrepreneur and always had a passion for bringing ideas to life. At 18, she went off to college, and attended the University of Washington where she studied Business Administration, with concentrations in Marketing and Information Systems. While in college she was able to see her dream of travel come to fruition and participated in several study abroad programs at the Foster School of Business including an exploration seminar to the United Kingdom, a semester abroad in Italy, and participated in a research seminar studying entrepreneurship in urban and rural Ghana. She blogged about her travel experiences and learnings and started a blog called DaibyDai. DaibyDai became a platform for her to not only share her travel experiences, but to share her journey and learnings with wellness, her natural hair journey and tips for self-care to live a full and healthy life emotionally, physically, and mentally.
It was Brown’s love of connecting and reaching others with the importance of health, wellness and self-care that inspired her to enter the world of pageantry. She felt the best way to continue advocating for these important topics was to get involved with other organizations that work to empower young women and important topics she believes in. As Miss Black Washington International Ambassador, Browns is determined to make an impact with her title to help others in need and further advocate for mental health, social and emotional wellness. She is passionate about advocating for mental health in black communities because having access to these resources can change the entire trajectory of a person’s life. Brown’s mission is to be a beacon of light, encouragement, and inspiration for those in my community and leave the world a better place.
The annual Teen, Miss, Ms., and Mrs., Black International Pageant and Call Me Miss Ambassador Documentary is produced by a professional and dynamic team that has over 60 years of combined pageant, international and broadcast experience.
