It is with great sadness that the Ferguson family announces the passing of their beloved sister, auntie, friend, and mother, Doreen X. Ferguson. With an abundance of peace in her heart, she passed on December 28, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.
Ferguson was born on July 17, 1956, at then-Madigan Army Hospital, now known as Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, Washington, to her mother Willie O’Neal Ferguson and father Richard B. Ferguson Sr.
Ferguson’s greatest joy in life was her son, Isaiah James Ferguson, who held her heart from the moment he was born. Her love for him was boundless and unwavering.
Ferguson is survived by her siblings, older brother Richard Ferguson Jr., DDS, and younger sister Dian E. Ferguson, MPA. She was a staple in her siblings’ and their children’s lives: nephews Richard, Elliott, William, and Alex. Ferguson always ensured family had what they needed. All share many wonderful and joyous memories together. They will miss her greatly.
A lifetime shared with Ferguson somehow does not seem long enough.
Ferguson has been warmly greeted and received in heaven by both of her parents. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
Thank you for being a part of her journey, and thank you for loving her the same way we know she loved each of you.
Funeral services for Ferguson will be on Thursday, January 30, at 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Mt. View Funeral Home located at 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. There will be a service in the chapel at 10 a.m., interment on site, and a Celebration of Life following inside the dining room of the chapel where the service will be held.
