Dr. Lora-Ellen McKinney is a pediatric psychologist with a specialty in treating underserved populations. Her domestic and international travels as a Kellogg and Salzburg Seminar Fellow afforded her opportunities to learn about the life challenges faced by individuals and communities resulting from racism, economic, political and environmental inequities, the hope and resilience displayed in the face of unimaginable difficulty and what is required to make meaningful change.

As part of the Kellogg Fellows Leadership Alliance, McKinney worked with an interfaith group on the early phases of the Abraham Path, a route of cultural tourism that retraces the journey made by Abraham, the father of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. She also served on the Interspiritual Executive Committee for the Seeds of Compassion event that brought faith leaders including the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu to Seattle in 2008.

Currently, she is developing enrichment experiences between Seattle Public School students and community leaders.

Dr. McKinney received an A.B. from Vassar College, M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the UW Seattle, and a postdoctoral Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School.
