At the age of six weeks, he was adopted by Edward and Lucy M. Jackson and moved to Seattle, Washington. He was their only child.Edward attended Seattle area elementary, junior and high schools, graduating from Nathan Hale High School in 1975. As a youth, he received Jesus the Christ as Lord and Savior of his life. He attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington.Ed secured a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Washington in 1980. During his tenure at the “U”, Ed was a member of the Husky Marching Band. He played trombone. He and the band accompanied the Husky Football team to the “Rose Bowl” in California in 1978. In his early and mid-twenties, Ed held jobs at Safeway, several banks, and Boeing. He struggled with and overcame bipolar mental disorder. In October 1985, Ed met and fell in love with Cora L. Smith. They were married on June 28, 1986, and Ed became father to her two children, Telleanna (Tee) and Willardth (Dee).Ed was laid off from Boeing in 1993. He worked several temp jobs, and returned to school. He received a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Seattle University, obtained with a partial scholarship provided by St Therese Parish in Seattle, Washington. Ed played trombone there with the Shades of Praise Gospel Choir, which his wife directed from 1993 – 1998.On January 27, 1995, Violet Banks (Kiki) age 4 1/2, and Kenneth McDaniel Jr (Kenny) age one, joined the Jackson family. Ed loved children, and his door was always open and welcoming to any of Cora’s young relatives. JonMarc (Jon) came to live with the Jacksons in March of 1999 at the age of 15 days. He was adopted shortly thereafter.Ed never called any of the children that he raised “steps”, “foster” or “adopted”. They were simply “his children”. His easy smile was genuine, and his personality was definitely “Type B”. He was seldom rattled, angry or depressed. He loved being with his children and preferred staying home with them while wife Cora ministered music, anywhere and everywhere.Ed was an elder with Bethel Christian Ministries from 1998 through 2002. In September 2002, Edward and Cora founded Righteous Harvest Christian Fellowship, a nondenominational church in Seattle, Washington, which ministers the Word of God in various venues, wherever needed. Ed was Senior Pastor at RHCF until the day of his passing. Ed went to work for Seattle City Light in 1999 and became a permanent employee in September 2000. He immensely enjoyed his job with accounts receivable and seldom took sick days. Even when it snowed, and most “sane” people would remain warm in their homes, Ed would catch the bus or walk to work. He was nothing, if not dependable. In July 2009, Ed was diagnosed with Acute Type B Lymphoma Leukemia. He was totally healed from this cancer at 6:55am, October 20, 2010, when he moved to his new home in heaven.
