The Benson Bruins 10U team showed why they are a force to be reckoned with as they opened the season with a dominant 28-7 win over the CD Panthers.

The two teams tussled back and forth, as both teams were opportunistic on defense early in the first quarter, until KJ Hightower scored on a 5-yard run for the Bruins. Micah Meneese added a successful extra point to give the Bruins a 7-0 lead with 6:53 left in the first quarter.

With under three minutes left in the first half, Hightower struck gold again as he scooped up a fumble returning it 15 yards for a touchdown as Benson took a 13-0 lead into the half.

In the third quarter, Benson’s Liufau Loumoli powered in on a 9-yard touchdown run to give the Bruins a 20-0 lead after a successful extra point attempt. The touchdown was set-up by a critical 4th and 15 play from the CD 35-yard line, which saw the Bruins pickup the first down at the Panthers’ 19-yard line.
