Gas Prices Hit Record Highs

Gas prices in Washington state have hit a record high. Petro is up $2 from last year this time. This is the first time that the price for a gallon of gas has risen above $5.00 in the United States. The gas prices along with inflation and high rent is having a major economic impact on families.

The organization the Seattle Medium has used to report on gas prices is the American Automobile Association (AAA). It provides the public with the best data for the subject. AAA says the national average is $4.97 per gallon. The average cost of a gallon of gas in Washington State is $5.51.

Some believe that the worst is yet to come for rising inflation and gas prices across Seattle area. In King County, the cost per gallon is $5.67 a gallon. In Snohomish County, $5.56, and in Pierce County is $5.55 a gallon.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused some of issues. There is now increasing summer demand for fuel. Experts say that the war in Ukraine is pushing prices higher. Experts also say that also says that issues at refineries or a hurricane would and could increase the price of gas.

Some may want to know every way to save short of buying an electric car. Experts say people should shop around for the best prices. Also, pay with a gas card, or use a gas rewards card. 

At one year ago, a gallon of gas was $3.067 according to AAA data. This means as prices have risen 62% over the past 12 months. Gas prices have gone up 15% just this past month alone nationally.
