Obituary: Gilbert Neal Petitt

Gilbert Neal Petitt was born in Seattle, Washington, to the union of Nannie B. Carter and Alfred N. Petitt. A proud product of Seattle Public Schools, Gilbert attended Madrona, Meany, Jane Addams, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1974. He worked for The Boeing Company for 39 years, serving the community on various advisory boards. He co-founded Project Compute, a nationally recognized youth computer training program, and advised youth in the Summer Youth Program at Seattle Emergency Housing Services.

Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Grace Leslyn Jones-Petitt; sons, Marcus N. Petitt and Brandon M. Petitt; sister, Kathleen M. Wilcox; nephews, Louis C. Marshall, William J. Poole, and Nathaniel J. Wilcox; and a host of extended family and cherished friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church (Seattle) on Wednesday, October 8, at 11:00 a.m.
