Obituary: Gracie Mae Williams

Gracie Mae Williams

Gracie Mae Williams was born on February 8, 1942, in Robinsonville, Mississippi, to Lillie and Freddie Lee Williams. She had one older brother, and she was the first of six girls. She grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, where she attended Geeter High School. When Williams turned 18, she moved to Seattle to help raise her brother’s four children. In Seattle, Williams enrolled in beauty school and, upon completion, opened up her own beauty shop called Ebony Design on 14th and Union. She operated her shop for many years.

Williams passed on December 18, 2024. Her parents, brother Henry, sister Clara, and nephew Desmond preceded her in death. Surviving family members include sisters Freddie, Annie, Betty, Gazelle, and many nieces and nephews. Mourning also are relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held this Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1634 19th Ave, Seattle, WA.
