High School Football Roundup: Week One Results

Lake Stevens 48, Garfield 21 

The Lake Stevens Vikings pulled off an upset on their home field, scoring 48 points and holding Garfield to 21. Despite the loss, Garfield’s EJ Caminong threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns, Rashaun Clark had 103 receiving yards, and Reggie Witherspoon secured a touchdown on three receptions for 67 yards. Garfield is set to face Lincoln next week at Memorial Stadium.

In a lower classification matchup, Kings High School surprised the Lincoln Lynx with a 19-point victory. 

Monroe 34, Roosevelt 25 

Despite their offensive efforts, Roosevelt’s defense allowed 34 points in their loss against non-conference opponent Monroe. 

West Seattle 24, Columbia 19 

The Wildcats began their season with a hard-fought five-point win against Columbia. 

Shorewood 35, Lakeside 15 

Shorewood’s strong defense held Lakeside to under 20 points, securing an opening week victory. 

Seattle Prep 52, Mercer Island 32 

The Seattle Prep Panthers secured a 20-point victory against non-conference opponent Mercer Island. 

Highline 42, Rainier Beach 0 

Highline, with their newly renovated school and amenities, started their season with an impressive shutout victory against the Rainier Beach Vikings. 

Newport 51, Nathan Hale 7 

Newport’s defense held Nathan Hale to just one touchdown in their season-opening win. 

Bishop Blanchet 42, Redmond 20 

The Braves claimed a 22-point victory against Redmond in week one. They are gearing up to face O’Dea next week on their home field. 

Ballard 43, Ingraham 41 

In a thrilling season-opening Metro League matchup, the Ballard Beavers narrowly escaped with a two-point win against Ingraham. 

Chief Sealth 32, Bellingham 27 

Facing a non-conference opponent, Chief Sealth managed to hold on against Bellingham, securing a five-point win heading into week two.
