Jason L. Owens Named New Executive Director Of Country Doctor Community Health Centers

Jason L. Owens

Country Doctor Community Health Centers (CDCHC)—the non-profit health center that operates Carolyn Downs Family Medical Center, Country Doctor Community Clinic and Dental Clinic, and After Hours Clinic— recently announced Jason L. Owens as its new Executive Director.

Owens’ healthcare administration and executive leadership experience at organizations including HealthPoint and VentureWell will help guide the organization’s mission to improve the health of the Central Seattle communities it serves.

Owens brings over 17 years of experience in executive healthcare administration in primary care, ambulatory, and post-acute care, and in operations. He has held various executive leadership positions over the last 10 years, most recently serving as Vice President of Information Data & Security of VentureWell. In that role, Owens helped coordinate the Federal Drug Administration/National Institute of Health approval of the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines as well as five different at-home rapid COVID tests. He has also served as Chief Information and Security Officer for HealthPoint, a local community health center, helping to expand their physical footprint and drive improvements using business intelligence.

“This is the role of a lifetime, addressing the needs of our communities with whole-person, preventative care through clinics with deep roots in these neighborhoods,” said Owens. “I’m committed to keeping CDCHC true to its mission of providing high quality, caring, culturally appropriate comprehensive health care to underserved communities.”

CDCHC Interim Executive Director Brandy Taylor will continue her work in the role of Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Executive Director, playing an integral part in the future direction and growth of the organization.

“Throughout our rigorous search process, our objective was to identify an experienced, compassionate leader to guide Country Doctor and Carolyn Downs’ future, navigate the current moment, and honor our legacy,” says CDCHC Board Vice Chair Christine Asiimwe. “Jason Owens is that person.”

Owens holds a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College and a Master of Public Administration from George Washington University and is a Certified Healthcare CIO.
