Kappa Alpha Psi To Host Scholarship Golf Tournament Sept. 18

The Seattle Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will host their 2021 Kappa Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament on Sat., Sept. 18 at Jefferson Park Golf Course – 4101 Beacon Avenue S., Seattle, WA 98108.

The event will feature a four-person best ball Scramble Start, prizes for best score among Greek Letter Fraternities and Sororities, and more. All skill sets are welcome, and Golf Hackers are strongly encouraged to join in the fun.

For decades, Seattle Area Kappas have supported the academic endeavors of young scholars. Through your generous support, The Seattle Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi has given out thousands of dollars in scholarships to students from the Seattle area as they have matriculated toward academic degrees from some of the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities.

The Kappa Alpha Psi Memorial Scholarships are awarded in the name of several giants of “Achievement in every field of Human Endeavor”, including: Jacque Chappell, Wm. “CZAR” Meredith, Sterling Dover, Leslie Stallworth, Clayton Pitre, Sr., Ron Jackson, Robert “Staple” Haynes, and other men who have devoted a significant part of their life towards helping and supporting our youth.

Last year, Kappa Alpha Psi awarded $1,000 scholarships to Jacque Jay’von Hicks, who will attend Prairie View A&M, and Abdi B. Hassan from the University of Washington – Tacoma campus. Because COVID has put a strain on many families that are helping put their kids through college, organizers are hoping to raise a minimum of $10,000 this year to distribute to deserving young men and women looking to further their academic pursuits.

“It is imperative that we as a community lend our support, financially and otherwise in efforts to undergird the challenges faced by young students as they continue their educational aspirations,” said Scholarship Committee Chair Rev. Terrence Proctor (GH ’85). “We can’t do this alone, but we can do it together. So, we’re asking everyone, who is able, to come out, have some fun and to support a great cause.”

Entree fees for the event are $100 per person, $400 per team. All donations/proceeds are tax deductible and benefit academic scholarship awards.
