The Kent Black Action Commission (KBAC) will host “Our Place in the March”, a tribute to the 54th Anniversary of the Historic March on Washington – when Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his historic “I Have A Dream” Speech.
The event will be held on Sat., Aug 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Burlington Green Park located at W. Meeker St. and Railroad Ave. N. in Downtown Kent. The program for the day will include a replay of Dr. King’s speech, voter registration, voter education, speakers and music.
Given the recent events in our country, most significantly the recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia, the Kent Black Action Commission has expanded the program of events to include “Let’s Stand in Solidarity” and pledge against hate as we address our current state as a Nation.
“As policing and community relations are at the forefront of our local and national conversations, this is another excellent opportunity for the community to come together to achieve equal protection under the law, with fairness and justice for all,” said KBAC in a press release regarding the event.
“Now more than ever we need to come together as an entire community,” continued the statement. “No one excluded please come and join us.
