With tax season upon us, King County property owners are reminded that real estate and personal property taxes for the first half of 2007 are due on April 30. There are three ways to pay your taxes: online, in-person and by mail. Pay online Payments can be made conveniently from the comfort of your home using King County’s eTax Web site with three easy steps: 1. Go to the King County Ecommerce property tax information page (http://www.metrokc.gov/finance/treasury/kctaxinfo/) to review the online payment options or view property tax information, then click ‘Proceed’. 2. Enter your real property tax account number from your property tax bill (or locate it online using the King County Parcel Viewer); and click ‘Search’. 3. Click the ‘Make Payment’ link and follow the instructions to select payment method and authorize payment. Users will need a valid credit card number or checking account to complete and authorize the transaction. Eligible credit cards include VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover Card. There are processing fees for using the online service; however King County does not receive any part of the additional fees. The County’s eTax online system provides easy, secure, and immediate payment confirmation for current year, non delinquent property tax bills. Delinquent accounts are not payable through the online payment system. Payments submitted after April 30 will incur delinquency charges. Pay in-person Tax payments can be made in person at the Treasury Operations office in the King County Administration Building, 500 Fourth Ave., Room 600 in Seattle. Payments are accepted during normal operating hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tax payments made by check for the exact amount due may be paid at one of King County’s seven Community Service Centers. For addresses, phone numbers and operating hours of the community services centers, please visit http://www.metrokc.gov/csc/. Pay by mail Tax payments returned by mail must be postmarked by April 30, 2007 to avoid interest charges. The property tax account number must be placed on the enclosed check or money order and payments should accompany a tax statement. Failure to receive a tax statement does not eliminate the responsibility to pay taxes on time. Taxpayers who have not received statements can contact King County Treasury Operations at http://www.metrokc.gov/finance/treasury/kctaxinfo/, or by calling the automated system at 206-296-0923 or a customer service representative at 206-296-3850.
