Should King County Provide $180 Million Dollars In Public Funds To Maintain Safeco Field?

Joseph Clark…
By nature professional sports and the cost have been a shared venture between the public and the owners, but once the deal is made and the public has shouldered their responsibility, owners with as much capital as they possess, should not ask the public or tap into tax funds to maintain their enterprises.

Kim…
No. I think they should get rid of such things as shoe deals and other types of endorsements and maybe use that money. But to continue to ask the people to front the bill after the people have built the stadium is not a fair assessment of the situation. Regardless of where the money comes from or what type of tax they use, that money can be used for more important issues like homelessness, affordable housing and the like.

Devin Stubblefield…
I’m not knowledgeable enough on the this issue to have an opinion, but my initial thought is that sports owners make tons of money and to maintain their facilities should fall on their side of the ledger.

Mohamed…
Let them win us a championship first before asking us for more money. That haven’t lived up to the people’s expectations yet to be asking for more cash. Plus, I do not understand how the rich can continue to beg from the poor, what an oxymoron. The amounts of money the one percent possess, they have no business begging. I think they should be able to handle the costs to maintain Safeco.

Big money needs to get out of our pockets. Life is hard enough financially for the ninety-nine percenter to have to put out for professional sports. I think it’s a manipulation. One hundred million or so dollars out of our pockets, I think not. Fork it over owners, stop being stingy and trying to milk the public, it’s not right. We helped you build it now you maintain it. We don’t ask the banks to come and clean our houses after they help pay for it do we?

Jason Allen…
Professional sports is big business. From salaries, to stadiums the public is always looked upon to front the bill. It’s how the game is played, other peoples money and the sports franchise owners know this. I don’t think it’s fair, I think they take advantage, but the public allows it so they can’t neccessary complain. As long as the public allows it, the wealthy with continue to ask for these type of subsidizes.
