Public Health Seattle & King County recently announced additional resources guidance for child care and early learning programs that are considered part of the essential workforce. In addition, King County will expand support services to providers.
The new health and safety guidance for child care providers remaining open during the COVID-19 outbreak include:
- Checklist for child care administrators to prevent COVID-19
- Guidance for what to do when a positive case of COVID-19 is confirmed in a facility
- COVID-19 fact sheet to share with families
- Additional recommendations to help prevent and prepare for cases of COVID-19 in the child care setting

“Child care and early learning providers are among the heroes of this crisis. We must support this essential workforce with assistance and guidance, and do whatever we can for providers who want to remain open, and keep safe their staff and children in their care,” said King County Executive Dow Constantine.
To support implementation of the new health and safety guidelines, King County will expand the services offered through its Child Care Health Program, including virtual trainings and a weekly community call, open to all licensed providers in King County.
