Leschi Elementary School Temporarily Closed Due To Possible Norovirus Exposure

Because of the number of staff and students exhibiting symptoms consistent with norovirus, Seattle Public Schools announced that Leschi Elementary School will not be in session tomorrow – Friday, Dec. 13, 2019. 

Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Denise Juneau made the decision to close the school after more than 100 students and staff reported being sick on Thurs., Dec. 12, 2019. 

The school is expected to reopen with normal school hours on Mon., Dec. 16, 2019. 

During the closure, SPS custodial staff will clean the school according to recommendations from Public Health – Seattle & King County.

No other schools are impacted and, besides Leschi Elementary, there have not been other reports of a greater-than-normal number of cases of illness among students and staff at any other school in the district.
