Mary Mahoney Nurses Organization To Award Scholarships To 19 Students At Annual Luncheon

Dr. Keondra Rustin, MMPNO President

The Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization will award scholarships to 19 nursing students during its 77th annual luncheon on Saturday, April 11, at the DoubleTree Suites in Southcenter.

The event, which begins at 1 p.m., highlights the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting the next generation of nurses and advancing equity in health care through education and community investment.

This year’s theme, “The Future is NOW: Grounded in Equity,” reflects the organization’s focus on preparing a diverse group of nursing professionals to serve communities and improve access to quality care.

The scholarship recipients represent a range of educational pathways and institutions, from undergraduate programs to doctoral-level studies. Among them are Ozloma Abah, who is completing a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and Fatuma Mahmud, who is pursuing a doctorate in nursing at the University of Washington.

Organizers say the program continues to play an important role in supporting students from diverse backgrounds as they complete the academic and clinical requirements needed to enter the profession.

The luncheon is open to the public at no cost, though donations to support future scholarships are encouraged and are tax deductible. Registration is required at www.marymahoney.org

As the organization marks its 77th year, the annual event continues to serve as both a celebration of student achievement and a reminder of the ongoing need to invest in a diverse and well-prepared nursing workforce.
