Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization Hosts 76th Annual Luncheon Honoring Excellence In Nursing

The Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization will celebrate its 76th Annual Luncheon on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the DoubleTree Suites Southcenter in Tukwila. This year’s theme, “Unstoppable Spirit: Celebrating Excellence in Nursing and Inspiring the Next Generation,” honors the dedication of nurses and their impact on the community while supporting the next generation of African American nursing professionals.

Founded to provide support, employment opportunities, and recognition for African American nurses in Seattle, the Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization has grown into a powerful force for mentorship, education, and healthcare advocacy. Today, nurses of African descent continue to serve in local hospitals, clinics, and academic institutions, making significant contributions to patient care and medical education.

At the luncheon, 11 student nurses from four Puget Sound nursing schools will be awarded scholarships to support their education. These students will also be paired with professional nurses who will mentor them throughout their education. As part of their training, scholarship recipients are encouraged to volunteer at community events, promoting health equity and ensuring underserved populations have access to quality healthcare.

The luncheon is free and open to the public, and local and state organizations are encouraged to attend in support of these aspiring nurses. While attendance is free, donations are greatly appreciated to help fund future scholarships and mentorship programs. Registration is required by April 11, 2025, and is now open online at www.marymahoney.org. Tables are available for reservation.
