Members Sought For Mayor’s Council On African American Elders

The City of Seattle is seeking candidates to serve on the Mayor’s Council for African American Elders. Council members are appointed by the Mayor to serve renewable two-year terms. Members must reside within King County and serve without compensation. The Mayor’s Council on African American Elders is a Council of up to 12 members. The Council advises City officials on policies, programs and services of benefit to older African Americans. Participation on the Mayor’s Council for African American Elders requires a significant commitment. This includes attendance at monthly meetings (third Tuesday of each month) and participation on at least one sub-committee that meets monthly. Members also participate in an annual planning retreat, and attend and participate in relevant public meetings and events. The City of Seattle is committed to promoting diversity in the City’s boards and commissions.
