
Garfield’s Koren Johnson scored a game-high 34 points as the Bulldogs (15-3, 13-1 in Metro) handed Eastside Catholic (16-2, 13-1 in Metro) their first Metro League loss of the season. At 13-1 in Metro, both teams are now in a 3-way tie with O’Dea for first place in the league with only a few games left in the regular season.
Garfield’s Tari Eason scored 16 points, while freshman Jaylin Stewart had 11 points and Kendall Munson chipped in 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Eastside Catholic, playing without the services of junior guard Shane Nowell due to injury, was led by J.T. Tuimoloau, who finished the game with 20 points for the Crusaders. Junior Guard Nolan Hickman, who returned to the lineup from injury, and Syon Blackmon both chipped in 18 points for the Crusaders.
