Rainier Beach 38, Fife 13
Rainier Beach’s DayJohn Brooks rushed for three touchdowns as the Vikings won their season opener against the Fife Trojans. Brooks finished the game with 8 carries for 46 yards, and caught two passes for 101 yards.

Rainier Beach running back Xzavier Burton had 8 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown, while quarterback Jihad Abdul-Haqq connected with Askari Davis on a 16-yard touchdown pass to round out the scoring for the Beach Boyz.

Defensively, Frankco Gratton, Jr. and Orin Patu recorded sacks for the Vikings.

Rainier Beach faces Battle Ground next Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Garfield 51, La Salle (OR) 28
After going into the half with a 22-14 lead, Garfield posted 29 unanswered third quarter points as the Bulldogs posted an impressive 51-28 road victory over La Salle Friday night in Milwaukie, OR.

Garfield quarterback Javon Tade rushed for a touchdown and threw for two touchdowns, including a 71-yard touchdown pass to receiver Tierre Monroe. Tade also completed a touchdown pass to tight end Sav’ell Smalls, while running back Avery Morrow had a rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs.

Defensively, The Bulldogs were all over the field. Quintavion Johnson recorded two sacks and scored on a 30-yard fumble return. Sav’ell Smalls recorded two sacks, and teammate Jaiden Archie recorded an interception and a sack for Garfield.

Quinton Jordan scored on a 61-yard kick return for a touchdown, while teammate Isaiah Kenard also scored on a kick return.

Garfield Faces Central Valley next Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

Kennedy 72, Chief Sealth 20
Kennedy quarterback Sam Huard completed 19 of 31 passes for 557 yards and 10 touchdowns as the Lancers posted an impressive 72-20 victory over Chief Sealth. Huard’s favorite target of the day was Jabez Tinae, who had 10 receptions for 290 yards and three touchdowns. The Lancers Justin Baker finished the game with 5 receptions for 193 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Chief Sealth’s Dontae McMillan had 19 carries for 136 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Seahawks.

Blanchet 40, Kamiak 0
Blanchet’s Tommy Gardner carried the ball 11 times for 129 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Braves.

Eastside Catholic 12
Oaks Christian (CA) amassed 297 rushing yards as they cruised to a 35-12 victory over the visiting Crusaders. Oaks Christian’s Zach Charbonnet led the way as he carried the ball 28 times for 128 yards and a touchdown, while teammate Josh Calvert carried the ball 11 times for 98 yards and two touchdowns. Senior running back Tripp Mitchell also had a great day as he scored two touchdowns and averaged over 10 yards per carry. Eastside Catholic had 245 total yards, including 150 passing yards, but they had three turnovers on the day (2 interceptions, 1 fumble).

After ending the first quarter tied at 7-7, the Roughriders scored 27 unanswered points in a non-league win over Anacortes.

The Lakeside Lions stayed within striking distance as they ended the first half trailing the Vikings by a score of 21-12. Unfortunately, the Lions could not find their way to the endzone in the second half as they dropped a non-league matchup 35-12.

Nathan Hale 33

Nathan Hale running back Brandon Gibson had 18 carries for 327 yards and five touchdowns, as the Raiders posted a big opening season win against Lynnwood. Gibson’s teammate Gus Zarkades finished the game with 14 carries for 75 yards.

North Thurston 48
West Seattle 16
North Thurston took a 21-0 lead into the half before West Seattle was able to find some success in the second half.

North Kitsap 20
Bainbridge 17
Bainbridge battled from an early 12-0 deficit to take a 17-12 lead into the half, as quarterback Gannon Winker connected with Max Mcleod on a 40-yard touchdown pass. However, North Kitsap countered in the second half with a third quarter touchdown and a 2-point conversion to walk away with a hard-fought 20-17 win. North Kitsap posted 347 yards on the ground, while Bainbridge had 265 total yards for the game, including 151 yards on the ground.

Ingraham posted an impressive performance against highline, as they held a 27-0 lead through three quarter of play. The opportunistic Rams’ defense recorded two interceptions and a fumble recovery on the day.
