Blanchet looked like they might knock off the red-hot Panthers, who came into the game with a four-game winning streak, as they controlled the first half of play. But Seattle Prep would rattle off 27 unanswered points win the game. Late in the second quarter, Blanchet’s Tyler Korman recorded a safety and running back Luke Gardner scored on a 19-yard touchdown run to give the Braves a commanding 26-0 lead. Seattle Prep quarterback Jake Sype scored on a one-yard run to give the Panthers some life, as they went into the half trailing 26-7. Seattle Prep rallied in the second half, as Breaden Smith ran the opening kickoff back 75 yards for a touchdown, and Sype connected with Jack Velling on a 50-yard touchdown pass as the Panthers pulled to within five points, 26-21, with just over 10 minutes left in the game. Sype then connected with Jack Blair on a 12-yard touchdown pass with 1:01 left in the fourth quarter finish off a 27-26 come-from-behind victory over Blanchet. Blanchet’s Luke Gardner averaged 6.1 yards per carry, as he recorded 86 yards rushing and one touchdown on the night. With the win, Seattle Prep secured the number one spot in the leagues mini-playoff series which begins next week.
Eastside Catholic 28, Ballard 13
Eastside Catholic jumped out to a 21-7 lead as quarterback Kobe Muasau threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in the first half. The Crusaders went into the half leading 28-7, after Unterrio Latin-Henley returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown.
The Fighting Irish improved to 4-2 as they scored 21 unanswered points to begin the first quarter. Freshman Jason Brown scored two first half touchdowns, while David Demenezes, Quinn Carolan, Georgios Kotsakis, Tajj Dyles and Hayden McDonald all found their way to paydirt as O’Dea built a 49-7 halftime lead and cruised to a Metro League victory.
