Miles Family Recognized As Alumni Of The Year By UW Foster Schools of Business

Nate Miles and family.

The UW Foster School of Business recently recognized Nate and Leslie Miles and their family as alumni of the year during the Consulting and Business Development Center’s annual Impact Awards, which recognizes business, civic, and student leaders who are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in business. Awards are presented to individuals, corporations, and civic leaders who have made a substantial impact in growing businesses and jobs in underserved communities across Washington and accelerating students’ careers.

In recognition of the foundational support that the Miles Family has provided to the Center during its initial quarter century, the center recently established the Miles Family Internship Endowment to provide under-represented minority undergraduate students with the chance to work on consulting projects with small businesses owned by people of color or women with a special emphasis on businesses that are located in communities with high unemployment. The endowment will provide financial support to pay for a UW education, work experience through the summer internship, and enhanced education through a business professional who serves as their mentor during their summer internship experience.

The fund will help students like Jessica Oscoy sharpen their skills by solving complex, real-world business challenges. The endowment, the first endowment fund created specifically for the summer intern program, will be a permanent extension of the family’s commitment to support under-represented minority students and to growing business opportunities in under-served communities.
