The Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT) is proud to announce Rasheda Ali as an invited guest to celebrate the production of And in this Corner: Cassius Clay. The play, written by Louisville-based Playwright Idris Goodwin in collaboration with the Muhammad Ali Centershares the intimate story of Muhammad Ali’s boyhood during the nation’s dark time of Jim Crow racism and violence, while on his way to becoming one of America’s greatest athletes.

In an effort to support SCT’s social responsibility through the life and legacy of Muhammad Ali, Rasheda Ali—internationally known author, spokesperson and advocate—will host a post-show discussion immediately following the 4:30 p.m. performance this Sun., Nov. 4. This exclusive discussion is free to all ticketed patrons and will offer a rare glimpse into the life of Muhammad Ali, Rasheda Ali’s advocacy work, as well as the themes in the play including reflections on the Civil Rights Era and the challenges facing communities of color today.

LaNesha DeBardelaben, Executive Director of Seattle’s Northwest African American Museum will serve as special guest to moderate the discussion.

“We are grateful to welcome Rasheda Ali to SCT so that she can help us lift up the legacy of her father,” said Courtney Sale, SCT Artistic Director. “It is important that we are able to produce theatre that serves to promote social justice in our communities, while acting as a catalyst for change and a force for good for young people. Her presence at SCT, particularly in support of And in this Corner: Cassius Clay, honors to the work and future vision of SCT.”
