Puget Sound Lancers 12
The game of the week, the “Thomas Bowl” lived up to its hype. This was not a poetic game. This was a fight-for-every-score, move-the-ball-anyway-you-can kind of games. The players faced each other on the gridiron, the stakes were high-50 push-ups for the losing coach! CD prevailed with a narrow 13-12 victory. The Lancers coach Reggie successfully completed his pushups. In the early minutes of the game, CD forced a fumble which Zavion Watkins picked up and ran for a beautiful touchdown. To CD’s dismay, the Lancers bounced back with a long run resulting in a game tying touchdown. CD dug deep to block the extra point. It was not until the final quarter that Zavion Watkins struck again with a final touchdown. Kaden Powers connected with Oteko Mwamba for the extra point to seal CD’s lead. This game was all about defensive plays.
Auburn Panthers 18
Seatac Sharks 13
It was a coming out party for Auburn Panthers first year player Jeremiah Weatherford, starting from the kick off. He returned the kick off 62 yards for a touchdown. Auburn attacked both on the ground and the air. Quarterback Baylen Erdman showed off his arm on a 31 yard and 18 yard completion to Weatherford and a 22 yard completion to Donnie Stringer, III. Erdman was 8/14 for 92 yards. The pass set up the hard running between Christian Titialii, who had 63 yards rushing for the day with one touchdown, and Gregory Valdez, who had 17 yards for the day with one touchdown. But Auburn’s defense held strong the whole game led by their front five with constant pressure by Jalen Peck, Martin Huerta, Tautalatasi Suaava, Sinafea Laumea, and Gregory Valdez to keep the Sharks from a making comeback and secured the win 18-13.
