CD’s defense set the tone early in the game. Tay’Marion Pines and teammate Lucas Blue dominated early on. Pines strip sack set the Panthers up for their first score of the day. Despite the final score, the Bruins gave CD all they could handle. Benson linebackers Markell Newell and Alex Prince made play after play for the Bruins defense. The Bruins’ big Calvin Stricklin and Markus Apelu were beasts on the line and William Conroy, Jr., Eli Marshall, Cordell Jones and Maurice White were making key tackles every time a Panther would appear to find some daylight. In the 4th quarter, it appeared the Bruins had again stopped the Panthers in the red zone, but the defense received a holding call on 4th down, the Panthers received a fresh set of down and were able to score again, taking a 12-0 lead.

Benson quarterback Eli Marshall scored the lone touchdown for the Bruins on a 48-yard run late in the fourth quarter.

With the win, the Panthers earned their spot in the Conference Championship game where they’ll play the Rainier Ravens in a highly anticipated rematch of their regular season game.
