Benson Bruins 34, Rainier Ravens 28
The Northwest Premier Junior Football League 6U championship featured the Benson Bruins and the Rainer Ravens. This game was a display of powerhouse offenses that nearly went to overtime. After Chase Dance scored the first touchdown of the game for the Bruins and Mahkai Jackson responded quickly, it looked like we were in for a battle. After a long game of back and forth scoring between Dance and the Ravens duo of Jackson and Jayden Hernandez, the Ravens were up with one drive left for the Bruins. Dance got his number called once again and led the Bruins to a championship win with a final touchdown run, rumbling his way through the Ravens defense for his longest touchdown run of the day. Final Score: Benson Bruins 34, Rainier Ravens 28.
8U Division
Benson Bruins 38, CD Panthers 0
The Northwest Premier Junior Football League 8U championship featured the CD Panthers vs the Benson Bruins. This game was all Benson, as they dominated on all sides of the ball. The offensive dominance was led by Cordae Norling and Will Conroy, Jr. who accounted for four of their team’s six touchdowns. After some great defense led by Sosaia Sekona, the Bruins secured the shutout. Final Score: Benson Bruins 38, CD Panthers 0.
10U Division
The Northwest Premier Junior Football League 10U championship was a cross-town matchup between the Beacon Hill Cowboys and the Benson Bruins. This game was dominated by KJ Hightower. Hightower accounted for three of the five Benson touchdowns and he did it in a variety of ways. With a rushing touchdown, fumble recovery for a touchdown and a receiving touchdown, Hightower was the clear player of the game. Final Score: Benson Bruins 33, Beacon Hill Cowboys 0.
12U Division
Benson Bruins 32, CD Panthers 6
The Benson Bruins 12U team capped off a perfect day for the Bruins as a franchise with a big win over the CD Panthers. Prior to their game against the Panthers for the 12U championship, Benson’s three other teams (6U, 8U and 10U) went three for three in championship games and set the stage for the Bruins franchise to make history if the 12U team could hold up their end of the deal.The Bruins struck first as Devon Forehand scored on a 43-yard touchdown run on a 4th and 12 play to give he Bruins a 6-0 lead.The Gritty Panthers from the CD struck back as quarterback Kaden Powers connected with Oteka Mwamba on a 60-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter as the teams went in to halftime tied at 6-6.
In the third quarter, the Bruins started imposing their will on the Panthers as Luther Tucker scored four second half touchdowns, including a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown, as the Bruins claimed the 12U championship with a 32-6 win over the Panthers.
14U Division
The nightcap featured a very exciting game between the Puget Sound Lancers and the Seatac Sharks in the 14U division. The Lancers built an early 13-0 lead as they got a touchdown from Javod Thavixay, and a fumble returned for a touchdown by Antione Lee. However, Seatac’s “Showtime” Jason Brown excited the crowd with a 79-yard touchdown reception to bring the game within reach at 13-6. The Lancers went into the half with a 19-6 lead as Quiten Chandler, Jr. scored on a 15-yard touchdown run as time expired.
In the second half, “Shotwtime” Brown put on a show as he helped inspire his teammates with a 82-yard touchdown run to bring the Sharks to within 7 points at 19-12. Seatac’s defense continued to make thing difficult for the Lancers, but ultimately it was the Lancers defense that laid down the final dagger. With the Sharks driving and threatening to score late in the game, the Lancers’ Jabez Tuaoa intercepted a pass that sealed the victory for the Lancers.
Final Score: Puget Sound Lancers 19, Seatac Sharks 12
