Andrea Louise means “Womanly Warrior” and that is exactly who she was. She was fearless, determined, intelligent, passionate, fiercely loyal, beautiful and creative. She loved to talk, and often disarmed and complimented complete strangers while walking down the street (“I like your shoes!”) bringing smiles to their faces. If she felt a family member or friend was being treated unfairly, she immediately came to their defense. Andi, as she was affectionately called, was unique and special, a valued member of any group.
Andi was born in Seattle on September 7, 1999 to Levi Abercrombie, Sr. and Cherie Murray, and was adopted by Barbara Lynn but really, raised by a village. Her family, extended family, friends, teachers, coaches, mentors, counselors and advocates all had a significant impact on her life.
Andi attended Seattle Public Schools and participated in many activities while she was growing up. Some of her favorite activities were swimming, cheerleading, basketball and poetry. Andi loved going to camp, taking family vacations and travel.
Raised in the church, Andi gave her life to Christ early on, and was baptized shortly afterwards. She loved praise dancing with her brothers and cousins at concerts, festivals and other events. She was involved in feeding the homeless, and was always quick to lend a helping hand to others.
Over the years, Andi battled many demons. She had recently found housing, a job and fought hard to build a better life for herself and her baby. As a family, we are proud of her tenacity and persistence to keep moving forward. She left her body behind on April 9, 2019 and is now free.
Andrea is survived by her daughter, April Louise, mother Barbara, brothers Shaun, Jeremiah (Katie), Shea (Emma), Ian (Heidi), aunties Cora, Connie and Jennifer, uncle Bret, cousins Violet, Kenny and JonMarc, birth mother Cherie, birth sisters LaToya, Domenique, Leandra and Devina, birth brothers Emmanuel, Cameron, Pierre, Levi Jr and Tracy, grandfather Tom, godparents Carmen and Bob, big sister Michelle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. this Sat., Apr. 20 at The Matt Talbot Center 2313 3rd Ave, Seattle, WA. 98121. All are welcome.
