
Bishop Eugene Drayton, of Longview, Texas, received his Heavenly wings on December 26 at the tender age of 96, in the comfort of his home in Seattle, WA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at New Beginnings Christian Fellowship with Bishop George Archie of Sacramento, CA, officiating. Arrangements are made by Bonney-Watson Funeral Service.
Bishop Drayton made a magnificent impact on the Seattle community as the founder of Zion Preparatory Academy, pastor of Zion United House of Prayer Church of All Nations, and presiding bishop to numerous churches along the west coast.
He was a beloved husband to Mother Coreather Drayton for over 57 years, and a father to seven children. He received his Doctor of Theology (DTh) from the Bishop A. L. Hardy Academy of Theology. Bishop Drayton was a veteran of the United States Army, serving the country in World War II. He was involved with multiple organizations including the SOIC – Seattle Opportunities Industrialization Center, Volume Food Basket Grocery Co-Op, Fellowship Trumpeteers, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and many more. He recently received the 2016 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Vision from the Mountaintop Award for all he has accomplished within Seattle community.
The family of Bishop Drayton wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Kim Holland, Group Health Hospice, and all family and friends who helped with care during his final weeks on this earth.
