Obituary – Djomme Cordelia Desper

September 14, 1958 – May 25, 2018

Djomme Desper was the eldest child of Oscar E. Desper, Jr. and Glenda M. Desper. As a young girl, Desper was trained in Ballet, Tap and Jazz and danced in two operas at the Seattle Opera House, including Aida.

Desper attended and graduated from Garfield High School in 1976. After high school, she attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA before returning to Washington State. She received her B.A. from Antioch University.

Desper worked for Nordstrom’s for many years before being diagnosed with an illness that did not allow her to continue working. However, she tutored and counseled at risk-young ladies and volunteered as a mentor to serve pregnant teenagers to help them complete high school.

Desper was an avid reader, and artist and made many paintings and jewelry. She loved her niece and nephews and was a wonderful big sister, aunt and daughter.
