Obituary – Melvin Coleman

Melvin Coleman passed away on July 20, 2017 after a short illness.

Coleman was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to John and Helen Coleman. He and his parents moved to Seattle in 1955. Melvin grow up in the church and gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He attended Washington Junior High School on Jackson and graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle in 1968. He went on to work for Boeing for several years, and Kenworth trucking.

Melvin was proceeded in death by his parents John Coleman and Helen Coleman and his nephew Donald Coleman. He leaves to morn his passing his sons Devon Coleman, Tommy Mitchell, daughter La’ Shelle Chandler and four grandchildren. In addition, he leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers Jerry, Johnny and sisters Diane, Sadie, Gale, Rosa, Joyce, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousin nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on August 10 at Personal Alternatives 749 Central Ave. N. in Kent and continue from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11 at Mount Moriah Seattle Church – 4055 38th Ave S, Seattle, Washington 98118. Burial will follow at Evergeen Washelli.
