Obituary of Crillion Lockhart

Crillion Lockhart was born March 5, 1930 to David and Daisy Lockhart in Minden,Louisiana. He was the sixth child of twelve sons and one daughter. As a young child, he learned the benefits of hard work while working on his parent’s farm. He came to Christ at an early age and attended Sunday School and church at the Mount Olive Baptist Church where Rev. Hardy Harris was pastor.Crillion met Edna Tobin and they married May 1, 1948. They relocated to Seattle, in 1951, where they raised their four children: Deanna, Bruce, Rick and Daryl. In Seattle, they joined Progressive Baptist Church where Rev. West was pastor, and later joined St. Matthew’s Baptist Church under Rev. L.S. Tobin. Along with his wife, being led by the Holy Spirit, they organized the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church on July 28, 1990. His unselfish devotion pushed the church to its’ present location in Renton, WA, the pastor is Reverend Freddie Washington.Mr. Lockhart retired from Lockheed Shipyard after 35 successful years as a painter. He was a skilled worker and learned to sharpen his real estate skills. As such, he and his wife Edna were able to acquire numerous properties in lower Capitol Hill. He enjoyed working on his rental properties and long after his retirement he could be found continuously working. He also enjoyed and loved all of his children and grandchildren. He would jokingly refer to them as “Edna’s grandkids” and would sing to them “Every time I turn around there’s grandkids, grandkids.” In the late 1970’s, he was the general manager of the sensational band, “Daryl Lockhart and the Rivers of Love”, which traveled throughout the Greater Seattle area and Las Vegas.Brother Lockhart was loved and respected by all who were blessed to make his acquaintance. He was the father to many, a brother to those who would let him and a good friend to everyone. He was well known for his hearty laughter and his motto was “The happy life is the best life”, and he believed in sharing that philosophy in both words and deeds. No man was a stranger to him, and he became a seasoned traveler both nationally and internationally including Japan, Mexico, Canada and the Carribean.He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Edna Lockhart and his four children Deanna Lockhart-Ayala (Tony), Bruce (Erzzee), Rick (Natalie), Daryl(all of Seattle, WA) and his daughter in law, Gladdis (Oakland, CA). He had sixteen children and fourteen great-grandchildren. He leaves one sister Ella Lockhart (Palmer, AK), Earl Lockhart (Los Angeles,CA) and brothers Parnell,Donzell,Johnnie and Jimmie (all of Anchorage,AK) and James Lockhart (Mobile,AL) with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Sherman Lockhart (Oakland, CA).The funeral is Wednesday, April 13, 2005. Funeral arrangements by Southwest Mortuary.
