Phyllis Ann Reynolds (Young) was born July 23, 1942 in Fort Scott, Kansas to Phillip and Alice Young. She moved with her family to Chinook, Montana, and then to Seattle where she attended Ebenezer A.M.E Zion Church. She eventually married and raised a family.
Reynolds enjoyed bowling with her parents, family and friends. Throughout Reynolds’ career she worked for the federal government including the United States Postal Service, and later retired as an Accountant in The Department of Interior.
In retirement Reynolds took to crafting, and whether it was crocheting, sewing, or ceramics; Phyllis excelled, making beautiful items that many of us enjoy to this day. Also in her retirement, Reynolds gave of her time and gifts to the church. Her true gift was service, having served as a President of the United Methodist Women’s Council, and as liturgist at Grace United Methodist Church, where she attended in her adulthood. She served for many years as the unit President of United Methodist Women, now known as United Women in Faith. Phyllis also served two terms as Seattle District President, followed by Secretary of the PNW Conference. Phyllis served a term as the Dean of the Christian School of Missions, currently known as Mission U, which is an annual educational event jointly sponsored by United Women in Faith and the United Methodist Church. Reynolds had a beautiful voice and shared that gift by singing in numerous choirs.
At Age 82, Reynolds, having suffered a stroke with accompanying health challenges, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
