Robin Michelle Prentice was born on June 6, 1956 in Seattle, Washington to the union of the late Donald Bibb and W. Dee Bibb. Robin departed this life in Seattle, Washington on January 5, 2019.
Prentice, affectionally called Robbie and “Top Sarge” by her family attended St. Edward Catholic School and Holy Names Academy. She attended the University of Washington and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Social Welfare in 1978. Prenticeexcelled academically while attending the University of Washington receiving numerous scholarship awards as a student in the EOP program for outstanding scholarship and academic excellence. Prentice received a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington in 1980. While attending the University of Washington, Prentice became a member of Delta Sigma Theta, a public service sorority.
Prentice was a vocal and strong advocate for children. She worked tirelessly as a social worker for 12 years at Medina Children Services. Prentice modeled a strong work ethic and continued her advocacy for children as a social worker for Casey Family Services beginning in 1994 and retiring in 2007 due to health reasons.
Prentice was a self-less person, always willing to listen, give advice and help others. She was loyal, dedicated, devoted to her family and a strong support to her friends.
Prentice was preceded in death by her step-father, James A. Prentice, father, Donald Bibb, grandmother, Lou Audrey Howard, sister-in-law, Janice Greene, brother, Sean Prentice and several great-aunts and great-uncles. Prentice is survived by her mother W. Dee Prentice, siblings, Gary L. Greene, Melanie S. Nelson, Kyle C. Prentice (Carol), nieces, Danielle, Jana, Camilla, nephews, Damien, Gareth, Omari, Malcolm, Bryson, Akil, a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, friends and godson, Kellen A. Walker.
A “Celebration of Life” memorial honoring Prentice this Sat., Apr. 27 at Casey Family Services located at 1123 23rdAve S from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please bring a new book appropriate for ages pre-school to teen. The books will be donated to Casey Family Services in memory of Prentice. Only new books please.
