In our high school game of the week, we had a playoff game between the Kamiakin Braves and the O’Dea Fighting Irish. This was a highly touted matchup as the last time these two teams met was in the 2016 State title game with Kamiakin coming away with a 14-7 victory. But this time, the Irish came looking for revenge.

The game started off great for Kamiakin, as their first drive ended in a touchdown run by quarterback Lucas Castilleja for the opening touchdown of the game. After that score it was all O’Dea. The following two Irish drives resulted in two rushing touchdowns by O’Dea’s Cameron Daniels. The Irish went on to take a 21-7 lead at the end of the first quarter, as quarterback O’Dea Emonte Scott ran for a 50-yard touchdown.

The second quarter started with some solid defense by the Irish and put them in good field position. O’Dea’s defensive effort set up a touchdown reception by Noah Williams from Scott as the Irish went up 28-7. Then with 46 second left in the half, O’Dea’s Dane Harmann pounded the ball in from 15 yards out to give the Irish a 35-7 halftime lead.

The second half was just as dominant for the Irish as the first half. Their defense constantly smothered Castilleja and the Kamiakin offense and forced turnovers on downs and punts.

The next O’Dea score came on a touchdown run by Mark Tafia to extend the lead. Then to close out the third quarter Scott threw a touchdown pass to Jon Gilbane for the final score of the game. Final score O’Dea 49, Kamiakin 7
