Reggie C. Witherspoon, Sr., Senior Pastor of Mount Calvary Christian Center in Seattle, was recently installed to the Sacred Office of Bishop and installed as Jurisdictional Prelate of the Washington Northwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the State of Washington by the Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake, Chief Apostle of the Church of God in Christ, Inc. during a ceremony in St. Louis, Missouri.
The appointment confirmed the confidence that the Church of God in Christ has in Bishop Witherspoon’s character, his devotion to Christ and the Church, and in his ability to direct the affairs and promote the general interests of the Church.
Bishop Witherspoon has served as a consultant for World Vision Ministries and a Volunteer Coordinator for Promise Keepers. He has also served as a chaplain for the Seattle Fire Department. His gifts and skills have taken him around the world proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. Witherspoon is consistently requested for conferences, workshops, and arbitration within Seattle governmental agencies negotiating conflicts, and mediating difficult situations.
Bishop Witherspoon received his education from Seattle Central Community College, and Northwest University — where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministries. He earned his Master of Arts degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and is presently working on his Ph.D. in organizational leadership. Witherspoon has served as Senior Pastor of Mt. Calvary Christian Center Church of God in Christ for the past 32 years. He has been married to Lady Laura Witherspoon for 38 blissful years. Together they have four children and seven grandchildren.
