People Speak: Do You Think The Way World History Is Taught In Our Schools That Emphasis Should Be Put On African and Other Cultures Histories?

Haregewoin Petersen…

I think it should be included because we are the people that brought culture to world and I think the world should know what kind of culture we have in Africa, in Asia because a lot of history came out of those cultures. Right now people are growing with those cultures, involving themselves in those cultures, showing the world what we can do.”

Julius Hayward…

“Yes I do!  My reasoning for that is I feel like everything is taken from Africa for the good, but we are marginalized when it comes to being a part of history. I feel as though the importance of China, ancient Greek and Roman, I feel their part all ties into the truth of Africa and I think that needs to be seen.”

Kathryn Ramos…

“Because of the diversity in our classes today I do think that there need to be more of an emphasis on other cultures African cultures, Asian cultures, not just because of the diversity classes  but because what we’re taught in our world history classes just simply is not the full truth, at all.  So I think that if emphasis is placed on other cultures then we have a more well-rounded  vision of what the world actually encompasses and maybe we’ll have more cultural empathy and understanding. So it’s important that world history is  taught and also it’s taught the right way.”

Danella Watkins…

“I do feel that people of color, there should be emphasis on  their cultural studies and should be taught by people who are actually a part of that culture, not by particularly a white person who learned it. I feel it should be taught with authenticity so people can have a real understanding of that culture so that it may lead to a deeper understanding and through this understanding you can stop racism before it begins by getting a better understanding.”

Kenyatta Casimir…

I do think everyone should know about everyone’s culture because we should be aware of other cultures, Black, Asian, all other people, we should know their cultures and beliefs and it’s a better way for us to connect with each other and I feel it’s more of connection than an awareness thing. We shouldn’t concentrate so much on slavery because our history is much more than that.”

Takeaways From The Supreme Court’s Decisions Expanding Trump’s Firing Power But...

The Supreme Court has ruled that the President may remove leaders of independent federal agencies without cause, overturning a 1935 precedent and significantly expanding executive power. However, the Court blocked the Trump administration's immediate attempt to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, emphasizing the requirement for due process amid contested mortgage fraud allegations. In a separate decision, the justices upheld state laws allowing the counting of mail-in ballots received after Election Day, a ruling that counters former President Trump's stance on voting restrictions.
